ด้วยความมุ่งมาดปรารถนาที่จะกระตุ้นให้เหล่าศิลปินที่เต็มไปด้วยแรงบันดาลใจได้ทำตามความฝันของตนเอง ธนาคารยูโอบี ได้ริเริ่ม การประกวดจิตรกรรมยูโอบี (UOB Painting of the Year) ขึ้นในประเทศสิงคโปร์เมื่อปี 2525 และจัดอย่างต่อเนื่องมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน นับเป็นการประกวดงานศิลปะที่ยาวนานที่สุดในประเทศสิงคโปร์ และเป็นหนึ่งในการประกวดที่ทรงเกียรติที่สุดของภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
การประกวดจิตรกรรมยูโอบี ถูกจัดขึ้นใน 5 ประเทศทั่วภูมิภาค ได้แก่ อินโดนีเซีย มาเลเซีย สิงคโปร์ ไทย และเวียดนาม ซึ่งเป็นเวทีที่ได้ค้นพบศิลปินใหม่ที่มีพรสวรรค์มากมาย และร่วมเชิดชูศิลปินอาชีพที่อุทิศตนเพื่อพัฒนาวงการศิลปะในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้อย่างแท้จริง

Driven by a passion to encourage talented artists in their creative pursuits, United Overseas Bank (UOB) started the Painting of the Year competition in Singapore in 1982. Today, the annual art competition is the longest-running in Singapore and one of the most prestigious in Southeast Asia.
Held in five countries in the region - Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore Thailand and Vietnam, which has helped to discover many talented emerging artists and recognise several established professionals who have contributed significantly to the development of the Southeast Asian art scene.
