UOB Thailand colleagues and customers have united over the past month to raise more than five million baht for the Thai Red Cross Society to purchase relief kits and daily necessities for disadvantaged individuals in home quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the #UnitedForYou COVID-19 Relief Programme, the Bank matched employee contributions up to a maximum of two million baht. UOB credit card customers also contributed to the fundraising effort by contributing their UOB reward points, which are worth 120 baht every 1,000 points.

Mr Tan Choon Hin, President and CEO of UOB Thailand, said, “We are in the midst of the most severe pandemic in recorded history and the communities have never been in greater need of assistance and care. I am grateful for the remarkable sense of camaraderie that exists among our colleagues and customers during these challenging times. We hope that our donation to the Thai Red Cross Society will help people from less fortunate households overcome some of the challenges from COVID-19.”

The Bank’s latest fundraising effort is part of the global UOB Heartbeat COVID-19 Relief Fund, an initiative under UOB’s #UnitedForYou COVID-19 Relief Programme, which was set up last year. The programme demonstrates the Group’s long-term commitment to helping communities in times of adversity.
