UOB (Thai) was named Best Foreign Retail Bank Award and Best Digital Sales Initiative
at The Asian Banker Thailand Country Awards 2018 for its customer-centricity approach to making banking simple and smarter

United Overseas Bank (Thai) (UOB (Thai)) has won two awards at the recent The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Thailand Country Awards 2018, namely Best Foreign Retail Bank in Thailand and Best Digital Sales Initiative, Application or Programme. The awards recognise UOB (Thai)’s unwavering commitment to making banking simpler, smarter and safer for its customers through wrapping the use of technology in the warmth of the human touch.

For the fourth consecutive year, UOB (Thai) was named Best Foreign Retail Bank in Thailand in recognition of the Bank’s focus on developing financial solutions essential to the lifestyles of consumers. In 2017, UOB (Thai) launched the award-winning UOB Mighty, the first mobile app in Thailand to include contactless payments using a debit card. The app also supports the National e-Payment initiative to promote a cashless society.

UOB (Thai) was also awarded Best Digital Sales Initiative, Application or Programme for its ability to make banking simpler and smarter through the best use of technology. In the first quarter of 2017, UOB (Thai) implemented the Single Captain initiative, which includes an online portal that its service employees at branches can use to access information such as the customer’s risk profile and existing product holdings. This enables the Bank’s service employees to serve customers better by providing the right solutions based on the customer’s risk appetite and preferences. The programme led to a 29 per cent increase in the number of total compliments from satisfied customers year on year in 2017.

The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards recognises banks that are achieving progress in their business and whose products, services and solutions are benefitting local consumers.
