with foundation laid for its new headquarters

United Overseas Bank (UOB) cemented its long-term commitment to Thailand with a ground-breaking ceremony for its new headquarters last Thursday. Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, UOB, and Mr Tan Choon Hin, President and Chief Executive Officer, UOB (Thai), symbolically laid the foundation stone for the 30-storey high building. It will be the main office and centre for the Bank’s operations in Thailand and will house more than 3,000 employees. The THB 4 billion building in the heart of Bangkok's Commercial District on Sukhumvit Road is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2021.
Mr Wee said, “With more than 80 years of experience operating in the region, UOB has a strong appreciation of what is unique to ASEAN and what matters to our customers. In Thailand, one of the region’s fastest-growing economies, we have been helping our customers manage and grow their wealth and businesses for more than two decades. Our new building reiterates UOB's unwavering commitment to the country as we continue to support its industry, enterprise, consumers and community.”
