UOB meets the needs of Thai travellers with its new travel-focused credit card, PRIVI Miles
In line with increased overseas spending by its card members, United Overseas Bank (Thai) (UOB (Thai)) has launched a new credit card created specifically for Thai travellers.
The new UOB PRIVI Miles card offers the highest mile conversion rate among travel-specific credit cards in Thailand. For every THB15 spent at home and aboard, cardmembers earn one mileage point with Thai Airways or Singapore Airlines frequent flyer programmes. Cardmembers also enjoy a one per cent cash rebate on any overseas spend.
UOB PRIVI Miles cardmembers can also enjoy local privileges when they travel in Southeast Asia, such as room upgrades at Pan Pacific Hotel Group properties across Southeast Asia and dining benefits at more than 1,000 restaurants in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Between 2013 and 2014, overseas spending on UOB (Thai)’s credit cards increased by 15 per cent. Cardmembers spent the most on clothes, entertainment, airlines and restaurants. In particular, spending on airlines and restaurants increased by 41 per cent and 23 per cent respectively.
Mr Yuttachai Teyarachakul, Managing Director and Head of Personal Financial Services, UOB (Thai) said the spend increases were a reflection of Thais’ growing love for travel. “Using the insights into our cardmembers’ spending patterns, we designed the UOB PRIVI Miles card to meet their travel needs, from the highest conversion rate for airline miles with top carriers to dining privileges in restaurants at home and abroad.”
Travel and lifestyle privileges include the complimentary use of Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge and up to 20 million baht in travel accident insurance coverage for cardmembers, their spouse and children.
